Hi! I’m Ember Cordes, Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries here at First Presbyterian Church of Seymour. I believe that a close relationship with God, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus is foundational to living a meaningful and joyful life. Psalms 16:5-6 reads, “The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.” These two verses for me are ones that lead my life. I am certain that Jesus Christ is my chosen portion and my cup. I know God holds my lot, and the Holy Spirit guides me towards the beautiful inheritance that we all can have in Him.

So why am I so passionate about this? As a child, I did not have a strong model of faith displayed to me. I have felt firsthand what it is like to grow up surrounded by adults who don’t believe in the same values that they preach on Sunday morning. God has taken this, and turned it into a passion and a calling for me. I understand how important it is for children to grow up seeing that the adults around them love Christ and live in the Holy Spirit. As the Youth Director here at First Presbyterian Church of Seymour, my goal is to be a model of faith and show them how to live with a fullness of joy in such a way that nothing can separate them from the Light of Christ.
